The site Aarlen Trier is upgraded to a more current urban development translation in which ambitions of developer and city intertwine to form a historic opportunity and reinforcing status of “renewed connectivity”.
The building, which consists of 5 underground and 12 upper floors, will be completely demolished down to the primary support structure. The underground parking will also be refurbished.
The project is designed with respect for the individuality of the existing building; through maximum preservation we let it play a recognizable role. The transformation of the pedestal provides a qualitative continuity whereby the border between public and private space is strongly intervened for an inviting character.
A cleaning and treatment of the concrete allows the original tones and aggregates to speak for themselves again. Together with a well thought out and refined joinery detailing, a homage to the modernist principles is created.
The client is aiming to obtain a “BREEAM OUTSTANDING” rating and WELL platinum.
