Buildwise

Buildwise, formerly the Belgian Building Research Institute, has decided to occupy an existing building in Zaventem as its new headquarters after significant renovation. Although the current building dates back to 1999, it has a number of significant structural deficiencies. A thorough renovation of the building shell and the technical installations is required so that the building can meet current requirements in terms of energy performance, ventilation, acoustics and daylighting.

A strong focus was placed on circularity in production processes and the handling of materials and building systems. This results among other things in a very extensive re-use of existing elements. For new parts, the choice fell on Cradle to Cradle products.

Within the interdisciplinary team Bopro was assigned as project manager. Within this project BIM, standardised protocols and communication platforms for data exchange were used within a special developed common data environment (CDE).
